Flowers, always and always...........

So said Claude Monet who would have loved Sabine Darrall, florist extraordinaire, for her sparkling talent. Sabine creates floral designs which are exuberant with blooms, alive with colour and heady with perfume. On meeting her, you are struck immediately by a sense of confidence and positivity.  She has been working in the industry for many years and has had a varied and interesting career. Until recently based in London, she has worked with some of the great names in the world of flowers, honing her impressive skill set and tackling all manner of difficult briefs under exacting masters of the floral arts.   Her personal style is romantic but she does not impose her taste on her clients. She sees her role as that of giving them the very best of what they want.  There is no doubt that she can interpret anything you ask her to and make it beautiful. My husband presented her recently with a £1 bunch of garage daffs and a storage jar which, within minutes, after a quick scoot round our winter garden, she had transformed into an exquisite bouquet. She has highly developed ethics about floristry and, wherever possible, she advocates the use of local, home grown, flowers and plants.  But, she is a pragmatist:  sometimes it is not possible to achieve the result a client wants by being too proscriptive. In any event, ethical floristry is not just about indigenous plants, it is also - even more importantly, perhaps - about the materials used to create the arrangements and Sabine uses skill and sustainable products wherever she can in her glorious floral artwork.
